Geeta Chapter 3 : Stanzas 27 to 34

Krishna continues...
"In this world of Nature three  basic forces are at work. They are Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas; that is, The good, dynamic and the evil. Everything we see happening here is caused by the compound working of these three. But the vanity of man makes him believe that he is the doer. But the wise one sees these three forces and the deeds (caused by them ) as distinct from each other. He can see how the two sets are intertwined with each other and how the deeds (or the phenomena) are the result of the complex working of the three forces acting upon one another, and remains aloof. Those who do not have a deep knowledge of these things, are one with  the bodily existence and are filled with thoughts that are egocentric. They are driven by vanity and take see themselves as the cause of everything that happens. There is no end to their vanity, ego and false pride. The wise ones should leave these fools alone. There is no need to excite them by trying to put sense into them. It only adds to their vanity and provokes them to greater foolishness.
Listen to what I have to say to you, my beloved friend! ( I can see how difficult it is for you at this point of time to follow abstruse philosophy and the voice of your inner self ). Leave this anxiety and trust me. Think of me as the custodian of all your karma and find anchor in the spiritual strength that is in me. Be free of all expectation and attachment. Go into the battle free of all delirium.
Those souls who understand the significance of what I am telling you here and follow the essence of this teaching even in the mundane life with complete faith and without envy or jealousy of my spiritual prowess : all of them will be free of the burden of karma. Those who disregard or devalue my words, be sure, they are lost souls governed by ignorance. They have no awareness of the harm they are doing to themselves.
The power of this vanity, pride and ego is so great that even the wise ones can come under their spell. Nature is a magical world where the good, the dynamic and the evil are the active forces. They are so vast that it is impossible( even for a Godly person like me ) to bring them under control. Every being comes under the power of Nature at times and acts under their influence, (losing the voice of judgement )
Man must raise himself above the basic forces of passion and ignorance. Man must constantly be aware that he has intelligence which is superior to the basic forces that govern Nature. The sense organs are vulnerable to the basic forces active in Nature. What we call affinity, passion, aversion, hatred...they all have their abode in the world of sense-experiences. Never let them govern you. Remember, they are the pirates on the path.
