Geeta Chapter 3 :Stanzas19 to 26

Krishna continued...
"Therefore O Arjun, perform your duty calmly, diligently, but do not get entangled;do not form attachments. This is the way that leads to the final goal.Great kings like Janaka in the past, reached the final goal as they lived a life of action without attachment or expectations. As a king you have to win over people and lead them forward. Great souls like you have to show the way to others. You are their Idol. They follow the way you travel.
Think of me. There is nothing left for me to accomplish in the three realms of the universe. Still I do perform my obligations. If I withdraw from the field of action, there will be disorder. People will not know whom to look up to, because they follow me and they expect me to show them how to live. If I do not work with diligence, they too will cease to work. There will be chaos and destruction all around and I will be the cause of it.The ignorant ones are found to work diligently to obtain glory, success and fulfillment, although their aims are selfish.  Those who are born to lead , have to bring the same diligence to accomplishing their mission of leading their followers on the right path. Those who work towards selfish aims, should be left to their fate. Do not waste your energy in persuading them to follow the right path. The wise ones should concentrate their mind on their mission and lead those who choose to follow them.
