Geeta Section 2 : Stanzas 54 to 59

Then Arjun asked a further question. He asked," How does a person of a steady mind, a person of integrity, speak? What kind of language is that which a person finds in the deep state of absorption with the self? How does a self-realized person express himself; how does he conduct himself; how does he move about (in society)? "
To that Krishna answered,  "When there is total renunciation of desires, when there is no  clinging to one's intimate thoughts, when one dwells in the company of one's own self, when one finds satisfaction in one's own company, that is the state of self-realization.
When the heart is not agitated by sorrow, when happiness does not create a craving for more, when you come across one who is free of lust, fear and anger, be sure that you have met a self-realized soul who is no less than a sage.
This person has a cordial feeling for all and has no fear in expressing it freely. Whatever life has to offer, good or bad, he accepts them all without excitement. You can be sure that this is the one whose mind and heart are established on a firm foundation. When he moves about among people, he is like a turtle which draws all the limbs inside the shell to prevent contact between his senses and the world outside. His senses work for him. They have a functional significance. But he does not allow them to rule over him.
It is often found that a person may observe fasting to exercise control over his eating habits, but he may not overcome the craving. But those who reach the highest state of detachment have no craving left for any kind of sensuous pleasure because they have seen that which lies beyond the world of the senses.
